RevGenius Member Spotlight: Ben Haber

Ben has been with us since the early days of a few people sharing ideas on LinkedIn. Quickly, he stepped up to be an advocate and get dirty to build with us. As our first editor for the Mag, he helped build the processes we benefit from today. He cultivated relationships and planted the seed for the content side of RevGenius to grow.

Ben has been such a significant part of our community and the true epitome of an upstanding member and friend. We’re all so thankful for his contributions and are looking forward to continuing to grow and learning with him in 2021. As Ben would say: much love!

Below is our interview with Ben Haber:

Introduce yourself to our audience. Tell us who you are and what you are currently focused on.

RevGenius Mag, what’s up?! My name is Ben Haber, and I’m a Mid-Market Sales Rep at Sendoso — it’s an honor to be featured here.

My journey to the game called life began on April 30th, 1992, in Los Angeles, California. Shortly after, I was assigned the following social security number 6XX5X4XX2.

Just kidding on the social security part and the play-by-play. I start with a joke because that embodies who I am. I love to laugh and learn while bringing high energy and positivity.

I’m currently focused on establishing myself as a successful/top rep at Sendoso. Companies come to Sendoso to improve their marketing and sales funnels via direct mail and gifting. The most common use cases are around creative ways to break into net new opportunities, account-based marketing (ABM), active sales cycles, and renewals.

How did your journey lead you to Sendoso?

I’ve known about Sendoso for about three years because the concept of a product to help salespeople like myself enamored me. I applied to Sendoso around two years ago to be an SMB AE, and I didn’t get it. I was incredibly bummed out, but I continued to watch from the outside looking in.

This all leads up to 2020 — I joined SAP’s Mid-Market sales team three weeks before COVID happened, and I immediately knew it wasn’t the right fit for me despite their amazing brand, pay, benefits, and career opportunities.

During this period, I became active on LinkedIn and met Tyler Cole, a Mid-Market AE at Sendoso. We became friends via our conversations, and suddenly, Sendoso had a Mid-Market opening, so I immediately tapped into this connection to earn an interview.

The rest is history. To anyone unhappy at their job, I can fully relate, and I’m here for you. There are better days ahead.

What advice would you give to people who’d like to do “social selling” better?

My best advice would be to LinkedIn DM me, and let’s schedule a time to chat. I can either help you or steer you in the right direction.

At a high level, I started my social selling journey by thinking through my objectives, my “why.” At the time (nine months ago), my main “why” was secretly looking for a new job, and I needed a way to showcase my sales skills to a larger audience.

After that, I was advised to pick 2-3 main subjects to focus on. This provides you with a framework and needed structure.

Regarding content creation, don’t be the person who only posts about how amazing their company is. No one cares. Focus your content on the challenges that your prospects have.

You can see actionable examples by checking out my cheesy LinkedIn hashtag of #BensBest.

What gets you out of bed every morning?

My alarm and my screaming cat. I welcome both types of noise as a morning person. My wife (Christie) makes fun of me for immediately jumping up right when my alarm goes off. I DESPISE THE SNOOZE BUTTON.

On a more serious note, I love sales, and I greatly enjoy the art of it. I’m constantly learning, and each day allows me to refine my process and implement new ideas.

I’ve also never felt more bought into the product I’m selling. The ability to sell Sendoso by using Sendoso is a blessing.

Feel free to reach out to me if you want year-round holiday gifts.

What would you say your personal superpower is?

High energy, all day, every day.

People regularly compliment me on sounding passionate and upbeat. I’m fired up and excited, and I’m proud of it!

Why should other sales and marketing professionals join RevGenius?

RevGenius has become the right community and the right time. Covid, systematic racism against black people, inequality for women, 2020 has been beyond brutal.

We need to support each other more than ever, but we shouldn’t be within six feet of each other. RevGenius epitomizes community by providing you with professional and personal help from your colleagues. And not just any colleagues, some of the most successful sales, marketing, and rev-ops leaders throughout the entire world.

I’ve barely met any of the people within RevGenius, yet I consider numerous people close friends. I’ve also leveled myself up in RevGenius by attending roundtables on sales topics, participating in the outbound prospecting club, and learning more about marketing (my target audience for Sendoso).

It has also been fulfilling to pass along my advice to several RevGenius mentees.

To close this out, I simply want to say: much love!
